Questo è uno dei dischi più belli dell'anno ed è bello perdercisi dentro. A 53 anni Lee realizza il suo disco di esordio solista dopo un paio di dischi, 1997 e 1999, a nome The Barbers assieme ad Elaine, al tempo sua moglie. Nel 2001 la band si scioglie, il lavoro, due figli da crescere, pensava di aver chiuso con la musica e si era dedicato all'altra sua espressione artistica, la pittura. Poi due eventi, la separazione dopo venticinque anni di matrimonio e l'uragano che ha sconvolto New Orleans, la sua città natale, lo hanno riportato ad esprimere la sua poesia attraverso la canzone. Poesia, si, le sue liriche sono poesie, molto autobiografiche che in questo disco riflettono questi due eventi. knowing that we have to turn away

Il risultato è fantastico, un suono 'naturale' (proprio come i vini che amiamo), vero, grazie all'ottimo lavoro del produttore Brian Beattie (Okkervil River, Shearwater, Bill Callahan) ed ai musicisti che lo accompagnano, tra gli altri il drumming sempre valido di Jon Greene, le chitarre di Craig Ross, la tromba di Matt The Electrician, l'arpa di Elaine ed in una canzone la voce di Will Sheff degli Okkervil.
